The floating princess

A magical tale of high level performance and style.

Mercedes-AMG has taken the wraps off its new Mercedes-AMG 35 4MATIC range.

The new offering is an attractive entry point into the AMG stable for younger target groups looking for a high level of performance and style.

The A 35 4MATIC will be available in South Africa in hatch, sedan and CLA 35 4MATIC formats.

“The demand for our compact models has developed dynamically in recent years. This success has encouraged us to further expand our portfolio and place it on a broader footing. With the new Mercedes-AMG 35 4MATIC range, we are fulfilling our brand promise of driving performance in every detail and offering thrilling lateral dynamics that serves as a point of entry into the world of AMG and also appeals to new customer groups,” said Co-CEO Mercedes-Benz South Africa and Executive Director for Mercedes-Benz Cars South Africa Johannes Fritz.

The exceptional driving dynamics of this Compact Class AMG range are ensured by a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo engine that generates 225 kW, the AMG SPEEDSHIFT DCT 7G dual-clutch transmission, the AMG suspension and the variable AMG Performance 4MATIC all-wheel drive.

This results in a 0- 100km/h sprint time of just 4.7 seconds for the hatch, 4.8 seconds for the sedan, and 4.9 seconds for the CLA 35.

“With its iconic design and agile driving dynamics, the new Mercedes-AMG 35 4MATIC range is an extremely attractive offer for a young, active and lifestyleconscious target group. These customers define their requirements very clearly: They expect exciting design from their vehicle alongside superior performance and inspiring handling characteristics.

“The new Mercedes-AMG 35 4MATIC range embodies just this attitude to life – and enables stepping into the fascinating world of AMG Driving Performance in a particularly emotional way,” said Marketing Director for Mercedes-Benz Cars South Africa Selvin Govender.

The interior of the Mercedes-AMG 35 4MATIC range features a combination of sporty design and sophisticated details, including the MBUX multimedia system, with its innovative operating and display concept.

MBUX replaces the previous COMAND systems, and creates an even closer connection between the vehicle, driver and passengers. Emotionally appealing presentations underline the clear control structure and feature brilliant maximum-resolution 3D graphics.

Visually, the two displays under one shared glass cover blend into a Widescreen Cockpit and as a central element consequently emphasise the horizontal orientation of the interior design, which is an optional feature.

But it is on the road where the new range comes into its own. Dynamism, agility and performance – these three attributes characterise the standard allwheel drive of the new Mercedes-AMG AMG 35 4MATIC range.

The variable AMG Performance combines the best possible traction with lots of driving fun, with torque distribution infinitely variable to suit the dynamic handling requirements.
